In 2015 the United Nations introduced the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is a global initiative designed to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges. It is made up of 17 interconnected goals which provides a roadmap for achieving a more sustainable and prosperous world by 2030. 10 years down the line these goals are a staple of any sustainably conscious entity and with only 5 years left till the 2030 goal how are these SDG’s being tackled?

How WASE is Tackling the UN Sustainable Development Goals?

At WASE, sustainability is at the core of everything we do. Our mission is to unlock the power of waste through revolutionizing wastewater treatment and energy recovery through our modular systems while directly addressing several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, we focus on SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land). But how exactly do we contribute to these global targets.

SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

WASE is committed to transforming wastewater into a valuable resource. Our modular wastewater solutions provide safe and efficient treatment, reducing water pollution and enabling water reuse. By integrating circular economy principles, we help businesses improve their water quality while reducing environmental impact.

SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

Our technology captures biogas from wastewater, converting organic waste into clean, renewable energy. This not only helps reduce reliance on fossil fuels but also creates a more sustainable energy model, making clean energy accessible to more people and businesses.

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

Innovation is at the heart of WASE. Our modular systems provide a scalable, efficient, and sustainable alternative to traditional infrastructure. By integrating cutting-edge technology, we empower businesses to embrace sustainable practices and reduce their environmental footprint.

        SDG 13: Climate Action

Wastewater treatment is often very energy-intensive and contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. WASE’s solutions tackle this challenge by turning waste into energy all while significantly reducing emissions. By promoting sustainable practices and helping businesses lower their carbon footprint, we contribute to global climate action efforts.

          SDG 14: Life Below Water

Water pollution is a major threat to marine ecosystems. Our wastewater treatment solutions prevent harmful contaminants from reaching water bodies, protecting aquatic life and ensuring cleaner oceans, rivers, and lakes. By improving industrial wastewater management, we help safeguard marine biodiversity.

            SDG 15: Life on Land

Poor wastewater management contributes to land degradation and habitat destruction. WASE’s innovative treatment systems minimize environmental harm by enabling water reuse and preventing soil contamination. By closing the loop on wastewater, we support healthier ecosystems and biodiversity.

            The Road Ahead

Even though massive strides have been made by most to implement better practises to tackle the 17 SDG’s there is still a lot to be done in the run up to the 2030 goal.

WASE is committed to accelerating global progress towards a more sustainable future. By championing innovation, embracing collaboration, and scaling our modular solutions, we are actively working to shape a world where clean water, renewable energy, and environmental sustainability go hand in hand.

As we continue to push boundaries in wastewater treatment and move towards a circular economy, we invite businesses, governments, and communities to join us on this journey. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and drive the change needed to achieve the SDGs by 2030.
