We have a 3-month fixed-term position for a Design/Mechanical Engineer to provide key support to the R&D of our Electro-Methanogenic Reactor. The position will involve mechanical design testing, design optimisation, prototype development, system assembly and manufacture.

Salary : £35,000 – 3 month fixed term contract

Start date:  19th August 2024

Location: Unit 1, City Business Park, Easton Road, Bristol BS5 0SP – due to the nature of the role, it will be in the office 5 days a week

About WASE

WASE is unlocking the power of waste to make it the fuel of the future. We work with industrial manufacturers to treat waste onsite and generate renewable energy. We help customers implement circularity onsite, treat wastewater effectively and decarbonise energy requirements.

The role will be working with our Engineering, Science and Assembly teams to do critical testing on our Electro-Methanogenic Reactors.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Mechanical and material testing of electrode modules/framework
  2. Design and construction of liquid/slurry flow testing rig to evaluate feed interaction with electrodes.
  3. Support the construction of electrode modules for a commercial unit
  4. Evaluation of electrode module framework optimisation strategy and design for manufacture.
  5. Support in the design and construction of lab-based testing rigs
  6. Support in lab reactor setup
Key Skills and Traits
  • Design and build test rigs.
  • Proactive individual who is comfortable with individual working and problem-solving.
  • Experience with flow and pump testing.
  • Enjoys hands-on building, prototyping and assembling.
